What to Do After a Traffic Accident?
Guide for handling accidents and dealing with insurance
When an accident occurs, take measures to prevent further damage and ensure general safety.
Call Emergency Services 112 if:
- Anyone is injured in the accident. If you can and it is possible, provide first aid to the injured.
Call Police 112 if:
- The parties involved disagree about who is at fault
- The owner of the damaged property is unknown, for example, you hit a traffic sign, fence, or another vehicle in a parking lot
- The person who caused the damage has left the scene
- The accident occurred while hitting or avoiding an animal
Required Documentation for Traffic Accidents
If no one was injured in the traffic accident and the parties agree on who caused the accident, the accident must be documented on paper and signed by the parties. The most convenient way to do this is by filling out the "Traffic Accident Notice" form.
After documenting the accident and signing the document, vehicles may leave the scene. Before driving, make sure it is safe to operate the vehicle.
